National Provisional Ruling Council

The National Provisional Ruling Council (NPRC, to German about National Transitional Council ruling ) was after a coup d'état on 30 April 1992, the de facto -Regierung of Sierra Leone . It was under the leadership of the military , initially under Yahya Kanu and later Valentine Strasser . NPRC terms such as National Provisional Defense Council (NPDC) also appear in the literature .

The NPRC was on 14 July 1992 in the Supreme Council of State (SCS about Supreme State Council renamed and henceforth Strasser and in recent months by) Julius Bio performed.

The NPRC or SCS announced the transfer of power to a civilian government in January 1996. This led to an internal coup by Julius Maada Bio, which finally enabled free elections at the end of February of the same year. These were won by Ahmad Tejan Kabbah . Almost all laws and regulations that the NPRC / SCS had enacted during the government were reversed a little later.
