National Research Development Corporation

The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) was a UK government-established organization to transfer innovations from public research organizations to private companies.

history

The NRDC was founded in 1948 by the Labor government of Clement Attlee to evaluate the technological developments of the Second World War . The first manager was Lord John Giffard. In 1981 the NRDC merged with the National Enterprise Board to form the British Technology Group .

Action

The NDRC issued licenses for innovations to private companies for economic evaluation. Among the innovations licensed the first commercial belonged Hovercraft (built by the company Saunders-Roe ), the carbon fiber , composites made of asbestos and developments in semiconductor technology .
