National Unity Party (Philippines)

The National Unity Party ( English for Filipino : Partido ng Pambansang Pagkakaisa ), or NUP for short , is a political party in the Philippines .

It was founded on February 4, 2011 by former members of the Lakas around Roberto Puno , who split off after internal disagreements. The party is part of the coalition led by the Partido Liberal in the House of Representatives , where the National Unity Party as a single party holds 24 of 292 seats. It also provides 8 of the 80 provincial governors, 5 of the 80 vice-governors and 73 of the total of 926 members in the provincial boards.

The National Unity Party was accredited as a national party by the Electoral Commission on October 5, 2011. The headquarters are in the NLIC building on Ayala Avenue in Makati City . The party color is green.

On September 26, 2012, the NUP held its first party conference and expressed support for Team PNoy in the 2013 general election . However, most members of the NUP, including party leader Albert Garcia , support the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
