National Workrights Institute

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The National Workrights Institute (NWI) called, is a US civil rights organization based in Princeton , New Jersey .

The organization, which was founded in 2000, campaigns for the observance of the rights of employees and tries in particular to publicize attacks by employers in the private sector of employees and to give employees help in defending themselves. Above all, however, the NWI is concerned with making it clear that the regulations for the protection of workers' rights are inadequate.

For this purpose, exemplary cases are taken up in which employees were dismissed for reasons that could be attributed to the private sector (e.g. support of a presidential candidate by an employee who was not acceptable to the employer; dismissal of employees because they smoked in their free time.)

For example, the terminations issued by the Weyco company because employees refused to undergo a test to check whether they smoked in their free time are currently under attack.
