National Democratic Collection
The National Democratic Collection ( Arabic التجمع الوطني الديمقراطي at-Tajammuʿ al-Waṭanī ad-Dīmuqrāṭī , French Rassemblement National Démocratique , RND) is a liberal, centrist and regime-loyal party in Algeria . It is led by the country's Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia , and is currently governing in a coalition with the National Liberation Front .
The National Collection for Democracy was founded on February 21, 1997. It held its second congress from May 15-17, 2003.
In the 2002 general election , the National Democratic Collection received 9.5% of the vote and won 47 of the 380 seats in the National People's Assembly . This was a major defeat for the party, as it previously held 156 seats. In the parliamentary elections of 2007 the party received 10.3% of the vote and has now won 61 of the 389 seats in parliament. In the parliamentary elections of 2012 , it received only 6.68% of the vote and 70 seats. In 2017 she was able to win 14.91 percent of the votes and thus 100 seats.
The National Democratic Collection was loyal to the last president of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika . It is a coalition partner within an alliance of three parties, the so-called " Presidential Alliance ", which was created in 2005 and also includes the former Unity Party , the National Liberation Front, and the Muslim Brotherhood- affiliated social movement for peace (formerly Hamas ).
The Secretary General of the National Democratic Assembly, Ahmed Ouyahia, was appointed Prime Minister on June 23, 2008.
