National High Court (1791)

The National High Court ( French Haute Cour nationale ) was the highest court in France from 1791 to 1792. It was established by Article 23 of Chapter 5 in the third title of the 1791 Constitution . Its seat was the city of Orléans , since the constitution stipulated that the court must be located 30,000 fathoms from the seat of parliament. It was also determined that previous members of the Court of Cassation as well as high jury members form the jury.

Most famous defendants were Pierre Henry-Larivière and Brissac , most famous member Paul de Barras .

The court was dissolved again in the days after August 10, 1792.
