The National Museum of Bhutan ( English National Museum of Bhutan ) is the national museum of the Kingdom of Bhutan . It is located east of Paro Chhu in Paro in the district of the same name in the west of the country.

The National Museum was opened in 1968 in the renovated Ta-dzong , built in 1649 , the tallest building in the country at 22 meters. It lies above the Paro-Dzong (Rinpung-Dzong).

It mainly displays cultural goods , including Bhutanese art. In total, more than 3000 items are exhibited that go back up to 1500 years. There is also a natural history section.
