climate

Flora and fauna
The jungle vegetation consists of low to medium-high tropical deciduous forest, in which species of Ceiba , cypress , here the species Cupressus distica , orchids and the holm oak occur. Some species only occur here, such as the agave grijalvensis from the agave genus .
One of the goals of the national park is to protect the animal species that live here, some of which are threatened with extinction. These include the tubercle hokko (Crax rubra) (a species from the genus of the hokko chickens ), herons , cormorants , spider monkeys , brown and white pelicans , the white-tailed deer , wild boar and river crocodiles .
tourism
The Cañón del Sumidero National Park is also a tourist attraction in Chiapas. It is ideal for exploring the flora and fauna and the unique geological formations such as the canyon. Due to the status, efforts are made to offer environmentally friendly tourism. One way to do this is by taking boat tours on the Grijalva River. But you can also drive into the area. There are five viewpoints along the gorge.
