The Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park ( French : Parc National Zombitse Vohibasia ) is a protected area in southwest Madagascar . It is located in the Atsimo-Andrefana region , was designated in 2002 and is 360 km² in size. Deciduous rainforests are characteristic of the park. In the late 1990s, the area was threatened by mining after a deposit of sapphires was discovered there.
