National Prize for Science and the Arts

The National Prize for Science and the Arts ( Spanish Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes , PNCA ) is an award given annually by the government of Mexico . The prize was established in 1945 and first awarded in the Lingüística y Literatura category (to Alfonso Reyes ); Since 1984 the prize has been awarded annually in six categories. It is endowed (as of 2014) with 100,000 Pesos .
