Astraptes anaphus is a butterfly ( butterfly ) from the family of the thick-headed butterfly (Hesperiidae).

The wingspan of the moth is 51 to 64 millimeters. Fore and hind wings are brown in color on the upper and lower sides. They are provided with some indistinct black-brown transverse lines. Typical of the species is a large yellow spot on the tornus of the hind wings, which is particularly noticeable on the underside.
Caterpillar
Adult caterpillars are yellow in color. The brown head has some eye spots.
Distribution and occurrence
The range of the species extends from Texas south to Argentina . It also occurs in the Antilles . Astraptes anaphus prefers to colonize tropical forests and bush landscapes.
Way of life
The moths fly in southern Texas from April to October, in Mexico and further south in several generations. They like to suckle on flowers or excrement . The caterpillars feed on legumes (Fabaceae). For Mexico, for example, kudzu ( Pueraria montana var. Lobata ) is named as a food plant, for Brazil wild beans ("creeping wild bean").
