The natural monument 154 - Esche Obermarsberg was a natural monument in Marsberg - Obermarsberg Auf der Mauer 1 . The ash was designated as a natural monument by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2006 by ordinance .

The ash was estimated to be around 500 years old and around 20 meters high. The tree stood between the Jewish cemetery and the former south gate of the city wall. The thick roots had grown into the historic city wall over the centuries. The ash was felled in March 2017 because the tree was affected by the ash dieback caused by the false white stem cup.
