The natural monument Doline Wintertal with a size of 0.5 ha is located northeast of Altenbüren in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a natural monument (ND) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the landscape plan of the Brilon plateau . The natural monument is surrounded by the Wintertal / Escherfeld nature reserve . The Schwalgloch Wintertal natural monument is 250 meters to the west .

The ND Doline Wintertal is one of the seven natural monuments in the landscape plan of the Brilon plateau which were established as karst phenomena. There are four swallow holes and three sinkholes .

The sinkhole is in the middle of agricultural land. The sinkhole itself and the immediate surroundings are used as grassland. The ND has no woody vegetation and is used as a separate pasture. The dioline has a depth of 6 m. It is almost square with an edge length of about 70 m.
