Natural monument pond and alder damp forest in the Herdringer Forest

The natural monument pond and alder forest in the Herdringer Forest is located in the Herdringer Forest north of Niedereimer in the urban area of Arnsberg and has a size of 0.37 ha . The area was designated as a natural monument (ND) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1998 with the Arnsberg landscape plan.

It is a pond and a stream accompanying alder forest. At the time of designation, two thirds of the pond was silted up. In the ND it is forbidden to plant non-native species.

The ND was designated for the preservation and optimization of the area. In the ND, the high biodiversity and habitat for amphibians and aquatic insects should be preserved.
