The winter linden tree is a natural monument located about 1.3 km northwest of Madfeld in the urban area of Brilon . The tree was designated as a natural monument (ND) in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . The natural monument is surrounded by the nature reserve Brilon plateau . The ND is on the west side of the state road 956. Right next to the natural monument is the natural monument group of trees made of 2 sycamore maples . Only about 200 m south on the L 956 is the natural monument group of trees made up of 3 winter linden trees .

It is also forbidden to fill, backfill, excavate and excavate or to change the shape of the ground in any other way. The prohibition also includes excavations for the purpose of laying cables.
