Vittorio Curtoni

Vittorio Curtoni (born July 28, 1949 in San Pietro in Cerro ; died October 4, 2011 in Piacenza ) was an Italian science fiction writer and translator.

Life

Curtoni graduated from modern literature in 1973 with a thesis on Italian science fiction, published in 1977 under the title Le frontiere dell'ignoto ("The Limits of the Unknown"). He was already heavily involved in Italian science fiction, first by publishing his own fanzine , then from 1970 to 1974 he was the editor of the SF series Galassia and from 1977 to 1978 he was the editor of Robot - Rivista di Fantascienza . Since 1978 he has worked as a freelance writer and translator.

In 1966 he published his first short story Danzate, morituri! , numerous others followed, which appeared in several anthologies, the last one in 2011 shortly before Curtoni's death. His first and only novel Dove stiamo volando was published in 1972. He has also translated works by Philip K. Dick , Joe R. Lansdale , Matt Ruff , Joyce Carol Oates , David Ambrose and Ron Goulart .

Curtoni died of a heart attack at the age of 62 after previously suffering from liver cancer.
