Otepää Nature Park

The Otepää Nature Park ( Estonian : Otepää looduspark ) is located in the Valga and Tartu counties in southern Estonia . It was launched in 1957. The symbol of the reserve is the lesser spotted eagle .

The nature park covers an area of ​​approx. 222 km². It is located in the middle part of the Otepää ridge and lies in the territory of the rural communities of Otepää and Elva .

Otepää Nature Park is the largest protected landscape area in Estonia. More than half of its area is covered by forests and lakes. The largest and most important lake is the Pühajärv ("Holy Lake") with an area of ​​286 hectares.

Numerous well-marked hiking trails run through the nature park. The nature park is also popular with cyclists and canoeists.
