Bicentenario Nature Reserve
Parque del Bicentenario is a nature reserve that the municipality of Antiguo Cuscatlán and the municipality of San Salvador in El Salvador jointly maintain. The Parque Cuscatlán also belongs to this nature reserve .
It is part of the Reserva Forestal El Espino and was inaugurated on November 5, 2011, the day of the celebration of the bicentenary of the Bicentenario del Primer Movimiento Independentista de Centroamérica . It has an area of 91 hectares and is known as the green lung. In addition to the ecological foundation of the trees and green areas that are worth preserving, the park offers a recreation zone for the urban population. The nature reserve is only open to pedestrians and cyclists and contains a small zoo and aviary as well as children's playgrounds.
