The natural stone mechanic processes natural stone with mechanical support and repairs damaged natural stone. Furthermore, he operates, controls and maintains the necessary machines and regularly checks the work results. The profession is learned in Germany in a three-year dual training course .
tasks
One of the main activities of the natural stone mechanic is the operation and control of machines that cut, grind and polish the natural stone . The control takes place with the help of the EDP . The natural stone mechanic selects the stones before processing and carries out a pre-treatment. Attention must be paid to the quality of the natural stones and this must be checked continuously during the machining process. After the rough processing, the products are polished and decorated. In order to be able to fix the natural stone at the installation site, the natural stone mechanic attaches connecting elements.
In addition to the actual production of natural stones, the natural stone mechanic is also responsible for the repair and cleaning of damaged or soiled stones. In this case, the removal and transport as well as the repair work will be carried out by him.
This industrial occupation has a similar field of activity as the handicraft stonemason .
