Nausdorf Canal near Nausdorf
The Nausdorfer Canal is located in the northwest of Brandenburg .
It connects the Rambower See with the Rudower See . The canal leads through the Rambower Moor past the small town of Nausdorf , a district of Lenzen . As early as the 15th century there was a mill flow that powered the Nausdorf watermill, which existed until 1833. The canal was built between 1862 and 1879 and expanded to its present size in 1924/25.
The canal is approx. 5 km long and 8 to 10 m wide, today it is probably a maximum of 3 m wide in some places. Its depth is about 1 m, on the bottom there is a thick layer of mud.
The water is not navigable. Larger numbers of whitefish make it popular with anglers.
