Nawaf Bandar at-Tamyat ( Arabic نواف بندر التمياط, DMG Nawāf Bandar at-Tamyāṭ ; often Al-Temyat ; * June 28, 1976 in Riyadh ) is a former Saudi Arabian soccer player .

Career

Nawaf at-Tamyat was the playmaker of the Saudi Arabian record champions al-Hilal from the capital Riyadh from 1991 to 2008 . In addition to numerous national successes, he won the Cup Winners Cup in Asia with the club in 1997. His most successful year, however, was 2000. After al-Hilal had become the most successful club team in Asia after winning the Asian Champions' Cup and the Supercup, he was voted the best player in Asia himself. In recent years, however, his career has stalled because he repeatedly struggled with knee problems.

He joined the national team of his country in 1998 shortly before the World Cup, where he was used. After that he became the team's playmaker and hope for the 2002 World Cup. But he could not prevent the sobering point-free and goalless elimination and when he started again after the tournament he was first kicked out. But he turned out to be indispensable and returned to the team. The 2006 World Cup in Germany was his third consecutive World Cup in Saudi Arabia's squad . After further long-term problems with injuries, he announced his retirement on August 27, 2008.
