Nawamis in Sinai

A Nawami is a round prehistoric stone building in southern and eastern Sinai in Egypt .

The buildings, built using dry masonry technology and provided with cantilever vaults , were made of sandstone slabs. They only have a small opening to the west. Nawamis are between 2.0 and 2.5 m high and have a diameter of 3.0 to 6.0 m.

In the structures, archaeologists have unearthed flint and copper tools , tiny jugs, bones, shell bracelets, and colored pearls that are believed to be grave goods . Many Nawamis were dated to the local Copper Age (4000–3150 BC). The identity of the people who were buried in the Nawamis is still unclear.

The Nawamis, located about 30 meters south of the Ain Khudra oasis , not far from the St. Catherine - Nuwaiba road , are the most easily accessible.
