Nazih Musharbash

Nazih Musharbash (born November 23, 1946 in Amman , Jordan ) is a German teacher and politician (SPD).

Life

Musharbash has lived in Germany since 1965. He was born in Amman / Jordan in 1946. He spent his school years in Bethlehem and Beit Jala (Palestine) in the boarding school of the Evangelical Lutheran Schools. He studied in Oldenburg and taught chemistry and biology and was a secondary school principal until retirement. For years he was a training officer for the Weser-Ems district government and then coordinator for school development and evaluation. He has been a member of the Bad Iburg City Council since 1986 and was a member of the district council of the Osnabrück district for 25 years until 2016. On February 12, 1997 he moved in as a successor in the Lower Saxony state parliament , to which he belonged as a member of the SPD until the end of the 13th electoral term at the end of March 1998 . In addition, he was the founder of the Osnabrück regional group of the German-Palestinian Society (DPG) until June 20, 2018 . At the annual general meeting on June 15, 2018, he was elected to succeed Raif Hussein as President of the German-Palestinian Society. Musharbash travels regularly to the Middle East and is committed to upholding human rights everywhere. For him, the prerequisites for peace between Israel and the Palestinians are the end of the occupation and the establishment of a sovereign state for the Palestinians, as stipulated by international agreements. He sees the continuation of the occupation and the adherence to the Jewish character of the State of Israel as obstacles, since Israel would lose its democratic claim as a result. Musharbash gives lectures on the Palestine conflict . His son is the journalist Yassin Musharbash .
