Nechemja (Tannait)
Rab Nechemja (also: Nehemia ) was a Jewish scholar of antiquity, is counted among the Tannaites of the third generation and worked around the middle of the second century AD.
Numerous Halachot (especially about "pure and impure") and Aggadic statements have come down from him.
He was an Akiba student. In the Mishnah he is often in disputes with Jehuda ben Ilai .
Little is known about his life, not even the name of his father has come down to us.
According to Rabbi Jochanan , Nechemja is one of the main authors of the Tosefta (Bab. Sanhedrin 86 a).
