The Neiva B Monitor is a glider manufactured by the Brazilian manufacturer Indústria Aeronáutica Neiva .

History and construction

The B Monitor was developed after the war on the basis of a requirement for the Brazilian aero clubs. Jose Carlos de Barros Neiva designed a glider based on the Grunau Baby , which was widespread in Brazil at the time , which was to retain the best features of the original model. The aircraft was a shoulder-wing aircraft with braced wings and a two-seater tandem cockpit, with the rear seat virtually in or under the wings. The fuselage and the wings consisted of a wooden frame, the wing leading edges were planked with plywood. The fuselage was made of wood as a half-shell construction, with steel tubes being used to attach the wings. The model had a skid and a wheel attached to it. Only 20 copies were built.

Versions

  • Neiva B Modifier - In 1959, Neiva tried to bring a revised version to the market as the B Modifier . This machine had a different bow and the hull was made of fabric-covered, welded steel tubes.
