Nekrikoi dialogoi

Nekrikoi dialogoi ( Greek Νεκρικοὶ διάλογοι; "Talks of the Dead", also Dialogi mortuorum ) is the title of a collection of thirty dialogues by Lucian of Samosata , which take place in Hades . In the satire created around 166/167, gods and people have their say. A German translation comes from Christoph Martin Wieland .

Among the works of Lucian's dead talks were affected, include, among other things, based in the underworld dialogue Phalarismus of Ulrich von Hutten , Les Héros de novel by Boileau and Dialogues des morts of Fontenelle and Fenelon .

The history of the impact of Lukian's work finally culminated in the development of the conversations of the dead into a separate European literary genre, also known as the Lucian genre after the originator of its archetype .
