The Nelson Mandela Forum (formerly Palazzetto dello sport di Firenze and Palasport ) is a multi-purpose hall in Florence , Italy .
Buildings and use
The arena was opened in 1985. The area and the building are owned by the city council of Florence and have been maintained by them since 2003. The hall was built on an area of 25,000 square meters . Of this, 10,000 square meters are the area of the main hall, with extra space for cabins, toilets and restaurants. The hall offers space for a total of 8,262 visitors and is mainly used for sporting events ( basketball , volleyball ) and concerts; For example, Eric Clapton performed here in 2001 as part of his Reptile World Tour in the arena.
