Nelson Mandela Museum
The Nelson Mandela Museum is a museum in the South African province of Eastern Cape (Eastern Cape) that the resistance fighter and President Nelson Mandela dedicated (1918-2013). It has three locations that are related to Mandela's biography. The Mandela House in Soweto , which opened as a museum in 1997 , is a former home of Mandela and is not part of the Nelson Mandela Museum .
history
The museum opened in the presence of Mandela on February 11, 2000, the tenth anniversary of Mandela's release after a long imprisonment.
Locations
The three locations are a short distance from each other in the former Transkei . Qunu was the village where Mandela spent a large part of his youth. This is where the Youth and Heritage Center is located . There are also changing exhibitions, for example about Mandela's conversations with Albert Luthuli or a comparison of Mandela's reception with that of Rosa Parks , as well as a range of museum education. The museum is responsible for preserving historic sites such as Mandela's former home and the ruins of the school he attended. ( 31 ° 46 ′ 57 ″ S , 28 ° 36 ′ 47 ″ E )

In the Bhunya Building there , the former parliament building of the Transkei, gifts that Mandela received as a politician are displayed. Changing exhibitions are also shown there.
