Entry fee

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The entry fee or entry fee is an amount of money that is to be paid by the participant in sporting events. It entitles the holder to one-time participation in an examination or event and is intended to cover the costs of the competition . The entry fee can be set by the organizer or in the regulations. With the submission of the entry form and the entry fee, a contract is concluded that includes the defined services of the organizer such as the transport of the athlete to the competition site, his catering or medical care during the event.

Sometimes the entry fee is also differentiated from the entry fee, for example in equestrian sport . In this case, the entry fee has to be paid at the time of registration (entry), while the entry fee has to be paid on site upon declaration of readiness to start.

In professional sports , however, the term entry fee is sometimes used differently. Here he can stand for an amount of money that is paid by the organizer to the athlete so that he can take part in the competition or that is to be paid by the organizer to the organizer for the commercial marketing of the event. For the organization of a Formula 1 race, for example, an entry fee of up to 20 million euros is required.
