Neophobia was an Australian thrash , power and groove metal band from Sydney that was formed in 1992 and disbanded in 1997.
history
The band was formed in 1992. A short time later the debut album was recorded. The line-up at that time consisted of singer and bassist Ken Mitchell, guitarist Andrew Howard, drummer Chad Bartosik and guitarist Jason Callabi, many of whom were still students at the time. The album was released in 1993 under the name Fear of the Future on Warhead Records . Shortly after the release, Grahame Goode joined as the new drummer, before Callaby was replaced by Nathan Howie. After international appearances in 1994 and early 1995 , the second album followed in 1996 under the name Nothing ... , also on Warhead Records. Shortly after the release, Mitchell dropped out, whereupon bassist Matt Wright and singer Steve Barron joined. In early 1997, Goode left the group, which led to the breakup of Neophobia. The remaining members then formed the band The Downside with a new drummer.
style
Brian Giffin referred to the group as a thrash metal band in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal . According to thethrashmetalguide.com , the debut album features a mix of power and groove metal. The music sounds relaxed, although there are occasionally faster or more technically demanding songs. For the most part, the mood in the songs is like The Almighty . The singing sounds "medium-drunk". The second album is ordinary groove metal.
