Nepenthes chaniana is a carnivorous plant belonging to the genus pitcher plants ( Nepenthes ) and is native to Sabah , Borneo . It was first described by Charles Clarke in 2006and was previously considered a form of Nepenthes pilosa .

Nepenthes chaniana differs from Nepenthes pilosa in that it has thick, long white hairs. The pitchers of Nepenthes chaniana are cylindrical and whitish-yellow, those of Nepenthes pilosa are rounder and wider.
Distribution and habitat
Nepenthes chaniana is endemic in the highlands of Sabah in Borneo , the holotype was collected at an altitude of 1630 meters.
Systematics and Etymology
For a long time Nepenthes chaniana was classified as Nepenthes pilosa , it was not until Clarke classified it as a separate species in 2006, the holotype he collected comes from Gunung Alab in the Crocker Range National Park . In addition to the thick hairs and the different pitcher shape, the area of distribution also differs, Nepenthes pilosa is only found on Kalimantan .
The epithet honors Sabahan Datuk CL Chan, the administrative director of the Natural History Publications publishing house in Borneo, who published central works by Clarke on pitcher plants.
