Nery Velasquez
Nery Felipe Velásquez Lara (born October 17, 1980 ) is a Guatemalan cyclist .
Nery Velásquez won the overall ranking of the Vuelta de la Juventud Guatemala in 2002 . He was also the Guatemalan road racing champion and won two stages in the Vuelta a Guatemala . Velásquez defended the national championship title in the following two years.
In 2004 Velásquez again won a stage in the Vuelta a Guatemala . After testing positive for Epo , he was given a two-year ban. In the 2007 season Velásquez was the fourth time Guatemalan road champion and won a stage in the country tour for the fourth time.
At the Vuelta a Guatemala 2009, Nery Velásquez won four stages and the overall standings. It was later found that he tested positive again, this time for the anabolic steroid boldenone . The Guatemalan Association then banned him for life, and his overall victory at the Vuelta a Guatemala was stripped of him.
