Network builder
Network formers , also known as glass formers , shape the basic molecular structure of glass . No other substances are required for glass formation. So has z. B. quartz glass as the only component SiO₂.
Network builders are the following connections:
- Silicon dioxide (SiO₂)
- Boron trioxide (B₂O₃)
- Phosphorus pentoxide (P 2 O 5 )
- Arsenic trioxide , also called arsenic (As₂O₃)
- Germanium dioxide (GeO₂)
- Antimony pentoxide (Sb₂O₅)
Stabilizers can be both network converters and network builders. In contrast to network builders, they are not able to form glass as an individual component.
