Network security group
A security group ( English security group ), and Network Security Group ( english network security group ) or Cloud-Based Access Group ( English Cloud-Based Security Groups ) is a collection of network nodes for which a common security policy ( English Policy ) applies.
A security group includes:
- a geographic region
- a resource group consisting of related VMs , services and databases
- Rules for inbound and outbound traffic , such as ACLs and firewall rules

Security groups separate resource groups according to their purpose and the associated user group . Examples:
- Separation of resources that do not belong together (e.g. according to business process )
- Deployment environments (e.g. development, test and production systems)
- public and private environment
- User and administration environment
