history
The new cattle breeding appeared in the heyday of the subcultural alternative press , also known as counter- public . The spectrum of the alternative press ranged from the most diverse literary, spiritual to political publications which, as beatnik author William S. Burroughs wrote: “The underground press is the only effective antidote to the growing power and the increasingly sophisticated techniques used by the mainstream mass media be used to falsify, twist, take out of context, outright ridicule, or simply ignore and sweep under the rug, information, books and discoveries that may be detrimental to the interests of the establishment ”.
In November 1970 the first edition of the "New Cattle Breeding" appeared with the subtitle "Agriculture serves everyone". It saw itself as an anarchist magazine that was based on Errico Malatesta and took a stand against any form of rule and for the self-determination of all people. That the “New Cattle Breeding” saw itself as part of the alternative press or neo-anarchism emerges from an “information advertising sheet” published in 1976 in which it was stated: “The international youth revolt - despite all its merits - has shown (.. .) that a one-sided trust in direct spontaneous actions leads to the collapse of the freedom movement ”. With the publication of, among other things, contributions to discussions and analyzes, the editors see themselves as an attempt to help anarchist groups “to become a serious factor in society”.
The aim of the magazine was limited to spreading anarchist ideas, including reports on actions, initiatives, reports and news. The individual titles “Zur Schülerwahl 1974”, “Against the Anarchist Agitation” (1975) and “Obedience is the greatest multiplier of disaster” (1975) were published. Articles by Paul Goodman , Bernd Kramer , Richard Murray, Louise Berneri, Theo Hardtmann, Helge Härle and others were published.
The successor to “Neue Viehzucht” was an almanac , also published by Stefan Blankertz, with the title On the dung heap of history . Two editions, 1978 and 1980, published historical analyzes and theoretical discussions: On the history of the New Left , on anarcho-syndicalist agricultural workers' agitation, anarchism and unity and reflections on Gustav Landauer .
In 1975 a booklet with publications of articles from the 5th year of the "Neue Viehzucht" with an introduction by S. Blankertz appeared under the same title. For example, “Revolution and Civil War in Spain 1936”, “Against Prison” by P. Goodmann, and “Quasi Anarchism in the Beginnings of the USA: Thomas Jefferson ”. Furthermore articles by Sebastian Faure, Emmanuel Goldstein, Ulrich Linse , Jessica Blankertz, Friedrich Nietzsche , Colin Ward and others.
