Database of German-speaking anarchism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The database of German-speaking anarchism ( DadA for short ) was founded in 1986 as a research project for anarchism documentation and has been accessible to all interested parties via the Internet since 1996 . DadA is a "semi-private" project with the aim and purpose, among other things, to make publications of German-speaking anarchism accessible. DadA has two sections: "DadA Berlin" (Potsdam) and "DadA Cologne". The sub-area worked on by “DadA Köln”, DadA periodicals of neo-anarchism, will be continued as a project of the library of the free from July 2020 .

Project DadA

The database of German-speaking anarchism strives to promote cooperation and communication within research on anarchism. Among other things, she collects bibliographies, literature documentation, basic texts and press documentation. The press and literature documentation are the "foundation" of the DadA. They cover the secondary and primary anarchism literature. Over 2000 documents can be searched in full text using the “search engine”. In cooperation with the Libertad Verlag , the data in the DadA could be made generally accessible. There is also an alphabetical register of authors and titles with brief information on the titles, authors, place and year of publication.

The press documentation (DadA-P) has been processed most intensively so far. It contains periodical press media divided into two periods: from the beginnings in 1798 to around 1967 (DadA-P1) and from the rise of neo-anarchism around 1967 to the present day (DadA-P2). In addition to magazines and newspapers, newsletters, yearbooks, calendars, series of publications and conference protocols were also included. The documentation is divided into “anarchist”, “anarchist tendencies” and “non-anarchist” (with tendencies towards the libertarian environment). In the info project (2003) by the DadA Berlin / Cologne it was pointed out that the organizational and ideological movements of classical anarchism, anarcho-syndicalism and others were taken into account in the database . Jochen Schmück gave a description of the state of research .

The DadA project is divided into different sections and portals. The Lexicon of Anarchy , the DadA documentation with basic texts, literature and press documentation. DadA services with DadA podcast , DadA news , book recommendations and DadA memorial . Furthermore: Web development / technology : system administration, content structures, navigation and much more. The literature workshop with “ Anarchist Texts Reloaded ” (atr project plan), with the digital library and the archive for social and cultural history.

In addition, the DadA practical tip , a playground and a chat corner. In cooperation with Radio Chiflado , among others , DadAWeb operates the DadA podcast. Podcast can be heard on the Internet and broadcasts on the history and culture of the libertarian movement. The archive for social and cultural history is published in collaboration with Libertad Verlag. This series focuses on the following topics: “The history of ideas of anarchism and anarcho-syndicalism. Social and organizational history of German-speaking anarchism and anarcho-syndicalism. History of the libertarian movements related to anarchism (such as syndicalism / unionism , free economy movement , council communism , libertarianism ) ”.

The documentation literature was developed from 1991 in cooperation with the Berlin Society for the Study of Social Issues e. V. compiled. Here the question arose for the DadA in Cologne: What should or can be understood by “anarchist” or “libertarian”,… . This article with the title "Problems of the formal and content-related determination of the subject of documentation" from 1996 was revised and the content of the DadA periodicals of neo-anarchism 2020 was updated and made more precise.

There is a discussion page for every article in the DadAWeb portal and the DadA operators point out that they do not want any arguments about the “correct political view”. You remark: "Because the anarchist way of seeing things is the perspective of diversity, including diversity of opinion".

The database of German-speaking anarchism also publishes the current financial situation - income and expenditure - of DadAWeb. The Yellow DadA pages (archives, publishers, libraries and magazines) offer the opportunity for self-presentation, especially for magazines. DadA informs about new projects and updates with the DadA newsletter, which they send out regularly.
