activity

Jochen Schmück was and is the editor or co-editor of the following series:

  • anarchist texts
  • Edition black cherries
  • Archive for social and cultural history

In addition, he has published in the publishing houses Klaus Guhl, Karin Kramer Verlag and OPPO-Verlag as well as in the magazines "Archive for the History of Resistance and Work (AGWA)", " Contraste ", " Knowledge " (Vienna), " espero ”and“ Schwarzer Faden ”appeared.

As an anarchy and anarchism researcher, he became internationally known through the project of the database of German-speaking anarchism (DadA), which he initiated in 1986 together with Ralf G. Hoerig . The basis for this was formed by the historical press study “The German-speaking anarchism and its press. From its beginnings in the 1840s to its decline in World War II ”. The DadA project includes the bibliographic documentation of all publications that can be ascribed to German-speaking anarchism from its early beginnings in the 1840s to the present day. The DadA documentation is divided into the following departments: DadA literature documentation and DadA periodicals.

After the DadA project had been an “insider tip” in research on anarchism for a decade, the two project organizers published their documentation on the Internet in 1996 in order to make their research results available to a wider public. Today the DadA project, which is operated on a wiki platform and has since been renamed DadAWeb, also houses the Lexicon of Anarchy and a digital library that is currently being set up. The DadAWeb sees itself as a platform for German-language anarchy and anarchism research and is financed through donations.

Together with other DadAWeb employees, Jochen Schmück is currently developing the so-called "DadAWeb 3.0", which is intended to serve as a pilot project for the " Semantic Web " within the Wiki world. In the last three years his social science research has increasingly concentrated on the investigation of the anthropological and organizational theoretical aspects of the social and organizational models defined as anarchy . In his research project under the working title “Anarchy 3.0”, he advocates the thesis that the anarchic tendencies in society and the economy that are recognizable in the present sometimes have a striking similarity to the “regulated anarchy” of our anti-state ancestors, i.e. the societies of collectors and hunters have. He is convinced that the anarchic organizational model is not only a very humane social organizational model, but that it is also significantly more efficient compared to the traditional hierarchical models.

Together with Markus Hansen, Schmück founded the ProfiBox project :

The ProfiBox is an attempt to answer the question that is often asked on the social web: How can I offer high-quality non-commercial content on the Internet without ruining myself financially or constantly bothering or bothering the users of my pages with unwanted advertising Beg for donations? The ProfiBox helps to finance charitable projects on the Internet by generating commission income through affiliate partnerships . Activities in the ProfiBox project: business development, product management, marketing, public relations "
