Pierre Ramus Society

The Pierre Ramus Society (proper name: Pierre Ramus Society ) was founded in Vienna in 1992 on the 50th anniversary of the death of the Austrian theorist and activist of anarchism and pacifism Pierre Ramus (1882–1942). Since 2003, the company has maintained an internet presence with free access to its internet magazine Knowledge .

The founder of the Pierre Ramus Society was Dieter Schrage (1935–2011). The aim of the company is the "current examination of the intellectual legacy of Pierre Ramus".

The libertarian views of Pierre Ramus (pseudonym for Rudolf Großmann ) are to be made accessible to a wider public with the society and the journal Knowledge . The journal Knowledge has been published at irregular intervals since 1993, in printed form until 2001 and as an Internet publication since 2002. Knowledge is the successor to the journal Knowledge and Liberation (1918 to 1936) published by Pierre Ramus . In knowledge , classic and current topics should be treated from a libertarian point of view. The main topics are the economic system, money and distribution, the problem area “Third World”, basic income, gender relations, housing, land, work, reform education and modern schools, anti-militarism and non-violence.

Events

The society organizes a Pierre Ramus symposium at irregular intervals .

  • 1972 was the first event in the Republican Club in Vienna.
  • The second symposium took place in 1995 in the Wiener Literaturhaus.
  • The third No Pasaran event took place in the Siebenstern Cultural Center in 1996 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Spanish Revolution.
  • Pierre Ramus and the peace movement was the theme of the fourth event in May 2003.
  • The fifth event was held in April 2006, entitled Imagine there are elections - and nobody goes! Anarchism and parliamentarism .
  • In November 2008 the sixth event was held at the Institute for Science and Art with the theme “Revolution and Council Democracy. Political awakening movements in Bavaria, Austria and Hungary after the First World War ».
  • 2010 and 2011 were further events. The seventh symposium (2010) was organized jointly with the Max Stirner Society. Anarchism between violence and non-violence was the theme of the eighth event in 2011 in the Anarchist Library in Vienna.
