Reinhard Müller (sociologist, 1954)

Reinhard Müller (born June 16, 1954 in Burgau ) is an Austrian sociologist .

Life

Both of Reinhard Müller's parents were primary school directors. After elementary school in Burgau, he attended the Bundesrealgymnasium in Fürstenfeld , where he graduated in 1972 . He completed his military service as a one-year volunteer and then worked as a blue helmet soldier at UNFICYP in Cyprus and UNEF in Egypt from 1973 to 1974 .

From 1974 Müller studied sociology and philosophy at the University of Graz , where he also worked as a study assistant from 1978 to 1979. From 1984 to 1986 he worked at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Historical Social Science in Salzburg. From 1987 he worked at the archive for the history of sociology in Austria of the Sociology Institute of the University of Graz, interrupted by a study visit to Mainz from 1989–1990. From 2006 he was managing director of the archive. He retired on July 1, 2019. As part of his work, Müller was editor and co-editor of the newsletter of the archive. In addition, he designed numerous exhibitions and websites. He was about curator of the museum Marienthal in Gramatneusiedl and was scientific advisor for the documentary The Unemployed of Marienthal by Günter Kaindlstorfer .

In 2011 Müller received the professional title of professor .

Private

Reinhard Müller has been married to Germanist Beatrix Müller-Kampel since 1987 .
