Günter Kaindlstorfer (born July 11, 1963 in Bad Ischl ) is an Austrian literary critic , television presenter , writer and journalist .

Life

Kaindlstorfer began his journalistic career in 1984 with the Wiener Zeitung . From 1985 he headed the weekend features section of the Arbeiter-Zeitung (AZ). After the AZ was discontinued in 1991, he switched to the weekend supplement “ Spectrum ” of the daily newspaper Die Presse . In 1992 he became the cultural editor of the radio program Austria 1 (Ö1). He also began working for ORF television in 1999.

He also works as a contributor to the TV magazine “ Kulturzeit ” ( 3sat ) and as a presenter for the TV program “Kreuz und Quer” ( ORF 2 ).

Kaindlstorfer was the initiator and coordinator of the ORF best list for many years . He has also made a name for himself as a literary critic and designer of radio features . He also works as a literary critic for German, Swiss and Austrian daily and weekly newspapers. He is also the official stadium announcer for the Austrian national football team.

Since 2010 he has been working as a writer under the pseudonym Günter Wels. In December 2018, his novel "Edelweiß" was ranked second on the ORF best list . The novel was also nominated for the "European Union Literature Prize". Kaindlstorfer has been program director of the book fair “ Buch Wien ” since 2011 .
