Life

Koroljowa attended from 1936 to 1937 the mathematics faculty of the Lomonosov University in Moscow , but moved the following year to the Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography ( ВГИК ). The decisive factor was her fascination for the work of Sergei Eisenstein . Although originally enrolled in the field of "directing", Koroljowa had to switch to the drama faculty as a result of the war, where Boris Bibikow was her teacher.

Although Koroljowa made her film debut in Юный Фриц in 1942 , she was first mentioned in film credits for her role in Убийство на улице Данте in 1956 . In 1944 she graduated from ВГИК and two years later joined the Moscow State Theater of Film Actors . From 1951 to 1954 she also worked as an actress in a Soviet theater group in Potsdam . In 1959 she started working for the Gorki-Studio for 30 years .

Koroljowa's filmography includes 88 works, and she appeared in front of the camera well into her eighth decade. Her engagements spanned all genres , from the historical film ( prologue ) to the comedy ( Vanya conquered new territory ) to the literary film adaptation ( Closed Lips by Ivan Turgenev ). She was present to an audience outside the Soviet Union primarily through four fairy tale films by Alexander Rou . Koroljowa could only be seen in her films as a supporting actress .

In addition to her work in front of the camera, she was also active as a voice actor, especially in animated films , but also in the Russian-language versions of international works such as Oliver Twist , The Hunchback of Notre Dame and My Sword for the King .

Lidija Koroljowa died at the age of 82 and was buried in the Kalitniki Cemetery , Section 29, in Moscow.
