action

The naughty girl Olja comes home dirty and has lost the front door key. The grandmother then rushes off to have a new one made. At home alone, despite the prohibition, Olja gets a jar of jam, but drops it in front of the large mirror in the hallway. Then the magic mirror begins to speak to her and as a result she enters through it the wonderful realm of crooked mirrors, where she meets her reflection Ajlo.

The two wander through the magical land and meet the boy Dnuerf, who is thrown into the dark tower of death by Minister Relda because he had refused to make lying, crooked mirrors as usual. So they decide to help the boy. They go to the palace but get no entry, so they smuggle their way into the court kitchen with the royal food supplies, where they meet the court cook Etteneid. She disguises the two as pages and sends them to the throne room for a change of guard. But just as they are about to steal the royal key with which they could free their friend Dnuerf, the king arrives and opens a royal ceremony. After answering an extremely complex mathematical problem, he elevated the two alleged pages to royal and deputy upper court mathematicians. With their newly acquired reputation, the two procure the postponement of the execution of their friend Dnuerf and want to rush to him to free him, but Ajlo loses the key on the way to his dungeon, and so they return to get the replacement key .

On the way back they are lured to their castle by Rettan, Relda's daughter, with lemonade and ice cream. When the girls are about to be captured, Olja leaps out of the window into the water and escapes. Ajlo, on the other hand, is thrown into the dungeon, where she finds a secret passage through which she enters the house of Minister Etörk. Rettan and her father are meanwhile driving to Etörk in a carriage to plan the overthrow of the king. Olja, who is nearby, secretly jumps up on the carriage. When they arrive at Etörk, the conspirators try to poison each other in the fight for the only remaining king's key, whereupon a tussle ensues. Ajlo grabs the replacement king's key that has fallen on the floor and hurries out to see Olja, who is waiting in the carriage. They dash off with Evalk's slave, shake off their pursuers and reach the dark tower, where it turns out that Ajlo had the second key with him all the while. They climb the tower and free Dnuerf.

Back in the human world, Olya wakes up, the jam jar is whole again and grandmother comes back. She hands Olja the new key, who, improved by the magic journey, thanks politely, but immediately finds the old key again. In front of the mirror, the grandmother says to her granddaughter that she really has royal manners. The reflection agrees.
