Soja Nikolajewna Wassilkowa ( Russian Зоя Николаевна Василькова , scientific transliteration Zoja Nikolaevna Vasil'kova ; born May 4, 1926 in Leningrad ; † June 1, 2008 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian theater and cinema actress .

Life

Soja Nikolajewna Wassilkowa was born on May 4, 1926 as the daughter of Soja Ivanovna Vasilkowa (1904-1982) and later Lieutenant General of the Soviet Army Nikolai Wassilkow (1902-1973). At the age of 17, she volunteered as a frontline fighter in the Great Patriotic War and was injured by a bomb explosion. After the war, Vasilkova studied at the Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography in Moscow and was part of the course of the well-known actor and director Vasily Vasilyevich Vanin . In 1949 Vasilkova graduated from the Gerasimov Institute and became a member of the State Theater of Film Actors ( Государственный театр киноактёра ). In the 1950s, Vasilkowa worked as an actress in the People's Republic of China (1950-1952), the People's Republic of Poland (1954-1956) and the GDR (1957-1959) during two-year business trips . In 1956 she played her first film role in Puteschestwije w molodost ( Путешествие в молодость ). Since 1959 she worked at the Gorki Film Studios . In her career, which spanned from the 1950s to the 1990s, the blonde mime gave around 120 roles and was also heard several times as a voice actress.

Soja Wassilkowa was married to the actor Yuri Chekulaev and had his family name in the marriage. The couple separated in 1965. She died on June 1, 2008 and was buried with her parents in a columbarium in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow.

She was the recipient of the medal "For Merit in Combat" (1944) and was also awarded the Order of the Great Patriotic War, Second Class (1985).
