Furor is one of Regensburg originating medieval metal band , founded of 2005.

history

Before Fenris founded the band, he had already written several texts, poems and short stories. For some time, however, these were rather in the dark. Fenris wanted to bring his lyrics to life with loud and heavy music and started looking for potential musicians. Alex Haas and Hardy joined Fenris two months later. The three musicians began composing songs themselves for the first time in a basement room that served as a rehearsal room for a band they were friends with. In the meantime, a bassist joined Baba. Originally the band was called Igni Et Ferro . She then changed her name to Grimm , but noticed shortly after the release of her promo CD that a Dutch band had already released an album under the same name and added the initials In to their band name . After just a few appearances, the band made a name for themselves in the local scene, so that several labels became aware of them. Eventually they signed with Black Bards Entertainment .

While working on the first album, Baba had to leave the band due to illness in September 2007, so guitarist Alex also played bass during the recordings. Finally, in October, their debut album, you should burn . The band often looked for a new bass player so that the band could perform live again and in the end took Mugl into the band. The album received mostly good reviews in the trade press, so the band was invited to support several well-known bands. Ingrimm already played at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig in 2008 . With Fuzzy, a bassist later joined the band, who replaced Mugl.

In November 2008 the band released their second album, which is called Deathly Doomed and also received positive reviews. This also had an effect on the number of fans, which grew steadily, so that the first fan club called Ingrimms Kinder was founded in the summer . Due to the steadily increasing number of her appearances, Fuzzy left Ingrimm again because she could not make appointments with her job. Mugl returned to the band as a bass player. The band played in 2008 at the Hörnerfest in Brande-Hörnerkirchen, among others with bands such as Heidevolk , Adorned Brood , Ignis Fatuu , Ragnaröek and WeltenBrand , as well as at the Festival Mediaval together with Zwielicht , Des Teufels Lockvögel , Dunkelschön , Vroudenspil , Corvus Corax , Subway to Sally and Saltatio Mortis .

The band performed at the Celtic Rock Open Air at Burg Greifenstein in July 2009 , including with Korpiklaani , Cumulo Nimbus and Vogelfrey and was invited to perform at the Wacken Open Air in 2009 as the main act for the newly created Mediaval Stage . A performance at the Rockharz Open Air followed in the same year. In addition, the band went on tour in Germany for the first time; in autumn they accompanied the Finnish band Battlelore .

In order to promote their new studio album, the band went on tour in Germany for the first time as a headliner in the spring of 2010. After their rag tour , the band went into the studio to work on their third album; it was finally released in May 2010 and is called Bad Blood . The band also played at the Ragnarök Festival with Van Canto , Midnattsol , Nachtgeschrei , Ensiferum , Equilibrium and Skyforger , at the Hörnerfest in Brande-Hörnerkirchen with Equilibrium , Ragnaröek, Cultus Ferox , Feuerschwanz and Arkona, and at the Bordun Rocknächte Festival in Schkopau , among others with Fejd, Ignis Fatuu , Mono Inc. , Cultus Ferox and Stumpen (formerly Knorkator ).

On April 11, the band first announced the departure of founding member Christian “Hardy” Hadersdorfer; however, the re-entry could be announced shortly afterwards. Due to discrepancies, however, founder and front man Fenris left the band in mid-September 2012. On October 24th, René Brandt was introduced as the new singer and, with Fühl dich frei, a song with the new voice.

style

The band's musical style is shaped by the use of low-pitched electric guitars and the use of double bass when playing the drums . The use of folkloric instruments such as B. bagpipe and bagpipes, is rather secondary. The music is based on bands like Subway to Sally and In Extremo .

The singing style of the band is rather untypical for the Middle Ages genre, as the singer also uses guttural vocals in addition to clear vocals , which is otherwise more typical of Death Metal and Black Metal .

Sale and Success

Rock Hard magazine gave the album Böses Blut 8.5 out of 10 points and wrote that Ingrimm felt a hundred times more metal in 2010 than before and that the album was a gripping album from start to finish with lyrics that are worth listening to. The first two albums were also reviewed by Rock Hard.

Markus Eck, freelance journalist and author, wrote about you should burn that it is a very well produced album that should especially inspire fans of In Extremo and Morgenstern .

The Metal Hammer gave the debut album 5 out of a total of 7 points and describes that the style of music is based on bands like In Extremo , Schandmaul and Subway to Sally . He also praised the commitment of all the band's musicians during the recording, especially Alex Haas for his double role as bassist and guitarist, and said that their songs could become party anthems live if the band found a drummer.
