Adorned Brood is a metal band from Grevenbroich , one of the oldest pagan metal bands in Germany .

Band history

The band was formed in 1993 and recorded the demos Phobos-Deimos and Wapen that year .

In 1996, Hiltia was their first album on Folter Records . After the albums Wigand (1998 with Atmosfear) and Asgard (2000 with Moonstorm) and numerous line-up changes, the band only retained frontman Markus Frost and, after his return in 2007, Mirko "Pagan" Klier. During these years Adorned Brood played a somewhat quieter and more folky kind of metal ; the black metal elements have almost completely receded into the background on the album Erdenkraft .

At the end of 2005, the band separated from their previous label Moonstorm Records and signed a contract with Black Bards Entertainment. The fifth studio album Heldentat was released on September 1, 2006.

In September 2008, the first two albums Hiltia and Wigand were re-mastered in a double CD edition by Black Bards Entertainment. In addition, the new studio album Noor was released in November , with which the band returned stylistically to the music of the first albums and significantly reduced the proportion of German-language texts.

In 2009 there were extensive line-up changes. With Niklas a permanent keyboard player was hired. Jan Jansohn ( All Will Know , Dunkelschön , Ex- Agathodaimon , Ex-Opalessence) replaced founding member Mirko “Pagan” Klier ( Difused ) on guitar and Anne replaced Anna as flutist. At the beginning of 2009, the band was also involved in the Black Sails over Europe tour, where they supported Heidevolk as well as Alestorm and Týr with a few appearances. In the summer of 2009 she played at the Wacken Open Air . In October of the same year, the third album Asgard was re-released.

At the beginning of 2010 the long-time drummer Tim Baumgärtel left the band due to time constraints and founding member Mike “Ariovist” Engelmann returned for him. The seventh studio album Hammerfeste followed in October 2010 . In the course of this it came to a European tour together with Negură Bunget and Black Messiah . Engelmann, however, did not stay long due to time or professional reasons and was replaced by Mischa Kliege (Denight, Ex-Earth After Sun) in September 2011.

This was followed by a change from the meanwhile insolvent label Black Bards Entertainment to Massacre Records , on which the eighth album Kuningaz was released on November 23, 2012 .

The band has been showing live shows at major German metal festivals such as Summer Breeze (2001), Party.San (2001), Wacken Open Air (2009), Ragnarök Festival (2011) and the Wave-Gotik-Treffen (2012) as well as in the opening act of Subway to Sally , Ensiferum , Norther , Korpiklaani and Turisa's presence. In December 2012 the band played in São Paulo , Brazil, and thus for the first time outside of Europe.
