New evangelical cemetery in Bielsko-Biała
The new Evangelical cemetery in Bielsko-Biała is a cemetery in the north of the city center of Bielsko-Biała in Poland .
It was built in 1911 based on a design by the Viennese architect Hans Mayr (1877–1918) and replaced the old Protestant cemetery in the Bielitzer Zion district from 1833 . The Protestant community bought the property as early as 1895.
The cemetery consists of three zones:
- the southeast zone with parallel paths,
- the northeast zone around the semicircular central square with radial paths,
- the northwest zone as a reserve of terrain with a wide path.
In the south-west zone there is a building complex modeled on the Italian Campo santo - a rectangular courtyard with service buildings, an arcade wall and a cemetery church, in the late Baroque style with Art Nouveau influences.
