The Maxim on Landshuter Allee (2010)

The Neues Maxim cinema is the third oldest cinema in Munich after the Gabriel Filmtheater (1907) and the Museum Lichtspiele (1910) . It is located at Landshuter Allee 33 in the Neuhausen district of Munich .

history

On September 14, 1912, the cinema was opened as the "Lichtspieltheater des Westens". For this purpose, the Schottländer department store at Landshuter Allee 33 has been converted. After the street was renamed in 1918, it was then called "Hindenburg Lichtspiele".

The cinema remained undamaged during the Second World War. From 1946 films were shown again. It was named "Maxim" in 1953. At that time, used film projectors from 1935 were installed, which were in operation until the reopening in 2016.

The Maxim survived the great death of cinema in the 1960s until the Halbig family who ran it in 1977 retired. In August 1978 Siegfried Daiber took over the business and developed it into a cinema .

In 2012 the cinema celebrated its 100th anniversary.

In summer 2016, the cinema was renovated and modernized under new management. In addition to the establishment of a second cinema, the cinema technology, the ventilation system and the fire protection were modernized. The cinema has been operated as Neues Maxim by Lichtspiel GmbH since October 2016 .
