New Town Hall (Nordhausen)
The New Town Hall of the Thuringian district town of Nordhausen was built from 1936 to 1937 and inaugurated in 1937. It is the seat of the city administration .
The building is located at Markt 15, directly opposite the old town hall with the Roland statue in front of it and the town hall . The New Town Hall was badly damaged in the air raids on Nordhausen in April 1945. After the reconstruction, the first floor was returned to the city administration on October 12, 1946. In addition to its actual function, the building also has public exhibition rooms, such as the Bürgersaal, and a restaurant in the “Ratskeller”.
The original Roland statue from 1717 is on display in the New Town Hall, while an epoxy resin replica is on the market square.
In the summer of 1997 the Nordhausen City Archives moved to the New Town Hall.
