Building plan

The New Town Hall in Poznan - a no longer existing building of the City Council on the Old Market in Poznan . It was erected in the neo-renaissance style on the site of the Stadtwaage building, which was demolished in 1890 , directly on the west side of the old town hall , in 1891/92.

Badly damaged during the Second World War , it was not rebuilt. The building of the city scales that once stood there has been reconstructed in its place .

history

Heinrich Himmler gave his so-called Poznan speeches in the Poznan town hall . At that time there were two town halls in Poznan, which stood next to each other. One can only assume that these secret speeches probably took place here, in the new town hall, the seat of the then city council. The old town hall standing right next to it was replaced by the new town hall as a symbol of Polish citizenship in Poznan, as the new German dominant on the old market, and was probably less used for such purposes.

After the end of the Second World War, the heavily damaged building of the new town hall was completely demolished.
