Neuhaus oak

Neuhaus oak, Neuhaus / Starzach estate

The Neuhaus oak is the strongest tree in the Tübingen district and a designated natural monument. Your location is near the Neuhaus estate at a small junction of the local connecting road between the Starzach district of Wachendorf and Bad Imnau .

With a trunk circumference of 7.20 meters and an age of between 400 and 500 years, this pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) is one of the least known tree veterans in the region. On the side facing away from the path leading by, there is a 4-meter-high and 1.2-meter-wide cavity in the trunk, which was created a long time ago when a side trunk was broken off. Due to the subsequent putrefaction, large parts of the interior of the trunk have largely decomposed. Nevertheless, there is still nutrient supply via the outer areas, so that many areas of the remaining crown can still sprout.

The Neuhaus oak should not be confused with the so-called 700-year-old oak in the Neuhaus district of Lower Saxony .
